Before I get into the meat of this topic, I have to help you understand what kind of character I am referring to when I say “God.” If it can’t be proven if God exists or not, you might also say that you can’t prove the nature of God either. So I can only tell you what I believe him to be, I believe his nature is that of what the Holy Bible claims him to be, i.e., He is the creator and supreme governor of both the heavens and the earth (see Genesis 1:1). He is the father of our spirits (see Numbers 16:22; John 20:17). He is perfectly just and perfectly merciful (see 1 John: 1:9).He is no respecter of persons (see Romans 2:11). And finally he cannot lie (see Titus 1:2).

The reason why this is important is because too many people that say they believe the Holy Bible do not know the Bible well enough to actually know what they believe. Some believe what their leaders tell them, and some say they believe something, but act completely contrary to it. This gives spectators a bad taste in their mouths, and I can fully empathize with those who are turned off of the idea of God based on what they see his so called followers or “believers” do and say.

Please give me the liberty to show you what the Holy Bible teaches about God (the God I believe in) and his nature based on some controversial questions I have heard, in a question and answer format.

“If a person has to believe in Christ to be ‘saved’ do those who have never heard the true Gospel of Jesus Christ go to Hell?”

– Absolutely not. God is perfectly just. It would not be just to hold someone accountable for something he never learned. If God is perfectly just, he would give every person the same opportunity to either accept or reject his gospel, whether in this life or the next, offering that person all that he offers all his other children. That is only just and logical.

“If a child dies without baptism, does he go to Hell?”

– No way! That is not consistent with the nature of God as stated. He cannot fault a child because of the fault of his parents. Furthermore Christ taught that we must be as our little children, for of such is the kingdom of God (see Matthew 18:3; 19:14). Little children who die before the age of accountability go straight up to the God who created them. That is just. It is the same for those who cannot sin because they are mentally unable to comprehend sin or righteousness. They too are perfect in Christ.

The God I speak of judges based on works, according to the desires of the heart. It is that simple. He is the God of all, not just Christians. It is not fire and brimstone for those who are not Christian. Understand that when I say “if there is a God,” that is the God I am referring to.
