My Friend, you may be gone from us, but you’ll never be forgotten.
From all you’ve ever given I say, blessings are what we’ve gotten.
So friend, the best of you remains, the things that last forever,
The things which make us smile, it’s those things we’ll always remember.
Now “we” will change to “I;” From here this poem ‘s just me,
I have to say dear friend, I miss you man, you see.
Sometimes I lie awake at night and think these two past years.
I have to admit when I think these things, sometimes I shed some tears.
A life just cut too short it seems, though my perspectives getting better,
So let me try and recap, of some times we’ve had together.
“Meridian Blue” Football, as children we first met,
Though a not so friendly competitiveness from there was surely set.
To our freshmen year—bitter rivals, but sophomore year made friends,
A friendship I’ll always cherish, so glad we made amends.
So those tears of pain or loss? Not quite. It’s from joy and gain they flow.
This gained friendship lasts beyond this realm, of this I doubtless know.
